Responsibilities
- Provide unit-based leadership in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and Director; supervise and direct nursing and ancillary personnel
- Initiate and coordinate conferences with health team members, patients, and families to develop and revise care plans for optimal outcomes
- Direct and monitor staff performance of patient care activities to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency; participate in direct patient care as needed
- Lead rounds to assess patient care needs and introduce self to patients and families; solicit feedback on nursing services
- Develop and implement systems to address patient care across the continuum; collaborate on strategies to improve patient satisfaction and customer experience
- Maintain a focus on culturally competent, patient- and family-centered care and support continuous quality improvement on the unit
Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California); BLS required; TNCC required; ACLS required; AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS required
- Education: BSN or equivalent combination of education/related experience required; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent nursing experience in the field; supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills required
- Special qualifications: Ability to work on a trauma-level unit; leadership responsibilities with minimal supervision; no on-call requirement for this assignment
