Registered Nurse (RN) – Corrections
Location: 7575 Cockrill Bend Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209
Schedule: Full-Time
Shift: 12.5 hours day shift (3x12.6) and (4x12.5) hours/ alternate weeks

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Corrections Healthcare team on a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise, leadership abilities, and excellent decision-making skills to provide quality patient care while supervising nursing staff in a correctional healthcare setting.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience required
  • Previous correctional healthcare, behavioral health, or supervisory experience preferred
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Strong assessment, communication, and leadership skills
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Staff Supervision
  • Supervise the application of nursing techniques required for patient care and treatment.
  • Advise nursing staff regarding policies, procedures, and clinical practices.
  • Observe employee performance to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Identify exceptional performance through observation and staff discussions.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Resolve employee conflicts in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Implement corrective actions when necessary, including counseling, written warnings, and disciplinary recommendations.
Patient Care & Clinical Services
  • Provide nursing care according to physician orders, nursing protocols, and established standards of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness and evaluate potential side effects.
  • Perform Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and emergency response procedures.
  • Participate in emergency response situations and crisis interventions.
  • Conduct ongoing physical and mental health assessments and monitoring.
Planning & Coordination
  • Prioritize nursing responsibilities based on patient needs, urgency, and scheduled activities.
  • Coordinate care activities to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate nursing care plans and make appropriate adjustments as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Review medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Prepare nursing staff schedules and work assignments.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including interviewing and evaluating prospective employees.
  • Assess candidates' qualifications and recommend applicants for hire.
Training & Education
  • Identify staff training needs and provide instruction on nursing procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Support orientation and ongoing education for healthcare personnel.
  • Promote professional development and adherence to clinical standards.
Scheduling & Workforce Management
  • Assign staff based on patient acuity, staffing levels, employee experience, and training.
  • Ensure adequate staffing coverage to maintain quality patient care.
Documentation & Inventory Management
  • Accurately document all nursing care and patient interactions.
  • Maintain organized and compliant medical records.
  • Count, track, and secure medications, instruments, and other accountable items.
  • Monitor healthcare equipment, supplies, and inventory as needed.
