Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and coordinated nursing care for endoscopy patients following established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Assess patient status pre-, intra-, and post-procedure; monitor vital signs and sedation; respond to changes with appropriate clinical judgment.
- Administer medications and manage post-procedure recovery; document care in the electronic health record; uphold safety and infection control practices.
- Collaborate with gastroenterology, anesthesia, and support services to coordinate care and ensure smooth patient throughput.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of nursing staff as assigned; delegate tasks appropriately and maintain professional judgment and accountability.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California
- Endoscopy nursing experience preferred; 1+ year in endoscopy or related invasive procedure settings is a realistic expectation
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) with current licensure
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred depending on unit policy
- Ability to work 10-hour mids shifts and function effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to document accurately and adhere to safety standards
