Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult and pediatric ED patients, including triage, initial assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring
- Administer medications, start IV access, and manage ED drips as prescribed
- Document patient care in the EPIC electronic medical record; perform accurate charting and timely handoffs
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, social workers, and ancillary staff to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Manage boarded and psychiatric patients within the ED, and respond to high census and rapid patient turnover with safe, efficient care
Requirements
- NY RN license or proof of license application with applied date (license on file at time of submission preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience; minimum 1 year of ER-specific experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC required (active or proven class prior to start); NIHSS required prior to start
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required
- May work with high patient-to-nurse ratios and must be able to adapt to fluctuating census
