Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ED across age groups, including triage, initial assessment, ongoing monitoring, and interventions for acute conditions.
- Administer medications and IV therapies per orders, including vasopressors, sedatives, anti-arrhythmics, insulin, and other ED-specific medications; monitor for responses and adverse effects.
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, ED techs, and multidisciplinary teams; document in the EMR (EPIC) and participate in patient flow, discharge planning, and critical events.
- Manage patients presenting with common ED diagnoses (e.g., stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure) and operate specialty equipment as required (e.g., rapid infusor, Arctic Sun).
- Float to appropriate ED areas as needed; uphold patient safety, infection control, and high-acuity care standards; provide patient and family education.
Requirements
- Active NY Registered Nurse license; Nursys verification of license
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC (AHA) required
- ED nursing experience: 2+ years in Emergency Department
- Travel experience required; EMR experience with EPIC
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics
- Documentation requirements: RTO requests must be included at time of submission
- Distance requirement: Must live 75 miles away from the facility for travel assignment; locals within 75 miles may be considered at local rate
