Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in ICU settings, including monitoring, assessments, medication administration, and family communication
- Float to units within the central ICU pool and to areas outside the candidate’s POD as skill and patient needs allow
- Manage hemodynamic devices and care for populations such as post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma, neurosurgery overflow MICU, and general ICU patients
- Document in the EMR (EPIC) accurately and timely; participate in rounds and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain infection control, patient safety, and adherence to unit policies; respond to emergencies and emergencies of patient care
- Adhere to scheduling requirements (minimum every other weekend; scheduling may rotate to meet unit needs) and complete bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
Requirements
- Active RN license in good standing
- AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification; NIHSS required prior to start
- CCRN preferred
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Minimum 2 years ICU/critical care experience at a large teaching facility
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Ability to float to units of like skill; flexible with scheduling; available to work Monday–Sunday as assigned; some holidays may be required
- Hemodynamic device experience and exposure to post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma (Level 1) care; neurosurgery and overflow MICU experience preferred
- Transportation: reliable personal or rental vehicle recommended; area may have limited public transit; all-season tires recommended November–April
