Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive infusion nursing care for patients receiving immunotherapy or chemotherapy, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Administer IV therapy and manage IV access devices (peripheral, CVC, PICC) per order sets and facility guidelines; monitor for adverse reactions and intervene as needed.
- Coordinate referrals, tests, and treatments; schedule infusion appointments and document results in the chart; communicate results to referring providers and patients.
- Oversee infusion clinic workflow, supervise staff as needed, participate in staff development, and optimize daily care delivery and resource utilization.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, post-discharge care, and follow-up; initiate care conferences with the health care team when warranted.
- Ensure prior authorizations are initiated as needed; maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and uphold infection control standards.
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or another U.S. state. Direct Hire candidates must have Alaska license applied for prior to start; agency travelers must hold an active Alaska license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; prior experience in infusion/immunotherapy/chemotherapy is preferred.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced infusion setting, operate IV pumps, monitor cardiopulmonary status, and use electronic health record systems.
- Flu vaccine is required. Start date may be delayed until fingerprinting and other pre-employment steps are completed.
