Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care for labor, delivery, and postpartum patients using the nursing process; monitor maternal and fetal status and respond to changes in condition.
- Assist with labor and delivery, administer medications, and support neonatal stabilization as needed; coordinate with obstetricians, anesthesia, and the neonatal team.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to plan and implement care, ensuring patient safety and a healing environment.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed team members; ensure appropriate staffing and smooth handoffs.
- Educate patients and families on childbirth, newborn care, lactation, and discharge planning; participate in patient and family teaching and support.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California)
- Certifications: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS); CPR certification or equivalent from an approved vendor
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent obstetric/L&D experience; Level II NICU experience required for day shift
- Ability to work in an acute care hospital environment and participate in a 12-hour day shift schedule
