Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care on the Medical-Surgical unit, including patient assessment, monitoring, and problem-solving to support stable condition.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and perform basic procedures as trained.
- Document care and patient responses clearly in the unit’s charting system; communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff to implement care plans; educate patients and families as appropriate.
- Float to other units as directed within documented skillset; adhere to unit policies, safety, and infection control practices.
- Complete required HealthStream modules by the stated deadline and participate in orientation activities when assigned.
Requirements
- NY State RN license active at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years acute hospital nursing experience (Med/Surg preferred)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Relias EKG exam completed within 72 hours of signing; pass requirements per Compliance Notes (100% to ensure readiness; onsite testing may differ)
- Ability to float within unit requirements and to work in a hospital Med/Surg setting
- Recent Nursys and current certifications prior to start; references required
- Complete HealthStream mandatory modules by 7:00 AM the Wednesday prior to start
- Local radius restrictions: applicants with permanent address within 50 miles of Saratoga Springs are not accepted; restricted counties include Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, and Ulster
