Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for an assigned group of Med Surg patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, manage IVs, document progress, and respond to changes in condition with critical thinking and sound clinical judgment.
- Coordinate care with physicians, ancillary services, and other disciplines; supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff as appropriate.
- Develop and implement care plans, ensure safe and effective discharge planning, and provide patient and family education to support understanding and adherence.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record; participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold infection control and safety standards.
- Communicate and collaborate with the care team to promote a healing, patient-centered environment; advocate for patients’ and families’ learning needs.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of California
- Minimum of two years recent experience in an acute care setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ACLS certification required
- PALS certification required or must be obtained by traveler if extending beyond the initial contract; PALS preferred/optional for the first contract
- EPIC electronic medical record experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Med Surg environment and meet the demands of a 12-hour shift
