Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adults on a Med-Surg unit, including post-operative monitoring and care for conditions such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity (bariatric surgery).
- Administer medications, manage IV pumps, and support NG/tube feeding when needed; monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition.
- Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EPIC); coordinate with the multidisciplinary team for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assist with patient education, mobility, wound care, pain management, and safety/compliance with clinical protocols.
- Demonstrate flexibility with floating to other Med-Surg units and maintain adaptability to unit needs and patient acuity.
Requirements
- Active New York Registered Nurse license; Nursys license verification required with an active NY license and all active RN licenses.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Minimum 2+ years of Med-Surg nursing experience; travel experience required with documented prior travel assignments.
- EMR experience, specifically EPIC.
- RTO requests must be included at submission; ability to work in an inpatient Med-Surg setting; valid driver’s license with address matching demographics.
- Demonstrated ability to float to other Med-Surg units as needed.
