Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for outpatient oncology patients in a clinic setting, following established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Collect pertinent data, assess health status, analyze findings, and develop and implement a care plan; monitor and adjust care as needed.
- Administer prescribed therapies, monitor patient responses, manage side effects, and document in the EPIC EHR.
- Prepare patients, rooms, and equipment for minor procedures; assist the physician with procedures as directed.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up care; participate in discharge planning and referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinate with the multidisciplinary care team and supervise/delegate tasks to assigned nursing staff as applicable to ensure safe, efficient care.
Requirements
- California Registered Nurse license (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor (Required)
- ONC/ONCC-CHIM certification (Required)
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification (Required)
- EPIC electronic health record experience (Required)
- Education: BSN preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in oncology or outpatient settings; 2–3 years of experience preferred
- Ability to work in an outpatient clinic within a hospital-affiliated short-term acute care environment
- No-call requirement described for this assignment
