Responsibilities
- Circulate in cardiovascular/open heart OR cases and, if assigned, circulate in other OR suites (general, ortho, neuro, ENT) as needed; scrubbing not required unless directed.
- Assist with intraoperative duties: instrument handling, draping, positioning, suction, tissue/vascular management, and sterile technique to support patient safety.
- Monitor patient status during cases and respond to intraoperative events, coordinating with the surgical team to ensure timely, safe care.
- Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation and Epic EMR entries within the past two years.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiology, and scrub staff; participate in preoperative and postoperative transitions and handoffs.
- Adhere to BLS requirements; CNOR preferred; demonstrate flexibility to meet unit and patient care needs; may require weekend and holiday call as described.
Requirements
- Active RN license in good standing (Vermont)
- BLS certification required; CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years OR RN experience with recent cardiovascular/open heart competency
- Epic EMR experience within the last 2 years
- Prior travel experience required
- Ability to circulate in the OR and float to other suites as needed (scrubbing not required when floated)
- Education: nursing degree from an accredited program (ASN or BSN acceptable)
