Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care in the operating room across age groups, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
- Assist the surgical team with procedures, maintain sterile technique, and manage intraoperative monitoring and equipment.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Document patient care accurately, communicate updates to the team, and ensure patient safety, crash cart readiness, and proper specimen handling.
- Support patient positioning, medication administration, wound care, and postoperative recovery processes, while addressing patient and family needs and education as appropriate.
- Contribute to OR turnover, room prep, and instrument/supply management to promote efficient, safe operations.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certified within six months of employment; PALS certification within six months for ER roles, with ongoing recertification every two years where applicable
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of two years of recent nursing experience in the field; experience in operating room or perioperative settings preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment and participate in on-call activities as required
- Vaccination requirements per current policy; exemptions may apply
