Responsibilities
- Circulate in the Operating Room during surgical procedures; assist surgeons and anesthesiologists; coordinate flow of equipment, supplies, and staff
- Maintain patient safety throughout the perioperative phase; contribute to care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment
- Prepare patients for surgery, including safe anatomical positioning; uphold aseptic technique and sterile field standards
- Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials; assist with intraoperative needs and equipment operation
- Document care in the patient record; access facility information systems (EPIC) as needed to inform care
- Be prepared for on-call needs (at least one night per week and one weekend per schedule)
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required
- EPIC experience or equivalent EMR proficiency
- Minimum two years of recent operating room experience
- OR experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Trauma; required
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital OR setting and meet environment of care requirements
