Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with adult critical care and high-volume ED/trauma experience for a day shift travel assignment at a Level 2 Trauma Center in Saint Louis, MO.

Details

  • Inpatient respiratory therapy role in a 767-licensed-bed hospital, covering all areas including SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma
  • Patient population includes adult respiratory, critical care, and trauma patients; pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister facility
  • Patient ratios are based on a point system and dependent on staffing
  • Equipment includes Avea ventilators, LTV transport ventilators, V60 BiPAP, Bellavista (incoming), Vapotherm, and Airvo for high-flow therapy
  • EMR: Epic
  • Day shift, 3x12, 06:30–19:00
  • Weekends, call, and floating as required by the facility
  • 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Current RRT credential with active Missouri Board for Respiratory Care license (license required if applicable)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapy experience
  • Adult critical care experience required
  • High-volume, busy ED with trauma experience required
  • Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • PALS preferred
  • Blood gas draw, processing on GEM, and interpretation experience preferred
  • Valid U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
  • No gaps in employment of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
  • Black scrubs are required; Mercy standard scrubs must be black
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but are subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Candidates living within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts; after that, they must separate from the facility for a minimum of 1 year or transition to a facility outside the 50-mile radius
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
  • Certifications should not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment unless documentation of a scheduled renewal is provided
