Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Valid Ohio Respiratory Care Professional license (required)
  • Minimum 1 year recent pediatric or neonatal respiratory therapy experience (PICU, NICU preferred)
  • Current BLS certification; NRP preferred
  • Ability to complete onboarding: health screenings, background checks, skills checklists
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills for fast-paced pediatric care

Responsibilities – Pediatric & Neonatal Respiratory Care

  • Provide comprehensive respiratory care for pediatric and neonatal patients across PICU, NICU, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, Trach/Vent unit, ED, and Women's Respiratory Care
  • Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, and high-acuity respiratory support
  • Assist with airway management: suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, and intubation support
  • Administer and educate on aerosol therapies, MDI/DPI, and holding chamber techniques
  • Perform airway clearance therapies including PEP, oscillatory PEP, and high-frequency chest wall oscillation
  • Obtain, analyze, and interpret blood gases and assist with ventilator adjustments per protocols
  • Implement clinical practice guidelines for asthma, cystic fibrosis, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) prevention
  • Participate in rapid response, transport teams, and multidisciplinary rounds to optimize patient outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, nurses, and allied health staff in pediatric respiratory care
