Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a critical care position at a busy hospital treating adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
Details
- Work in the Respiratory Therapy department of a 260-280 bed hospital with a daily census of 250-260
- Care for highly progressive/acute respiratory patients across Adult Critical Care, Pediatric Critical Care, Neonatal Critical Care, and general inpatient respiratory care
- May be required to care for NICU patients depending on requisition needs
- Fast-paced, busy department
- Rotating shifts (days/evenings/nights) with 12-hour and 6-hour shift possibilities
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Charting completed in EPIC (required) and Omnicell
- Utilizes ventilators including Draeger V500 and Savina 300, 3100A Oscillator, Servo-I MRI, and Hamilton C1
- Uses ResMed APAP, CPAP, and Bi-level devices
- Works with Airvo2 High Flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest, ABL90 Blood gas machines, IPV, and Praxair iNO
- Floating required to provide RT coverage throughout the hospital and ED, but not to other facilities unless specifically hired for that role
- On-call requirements vary by facility and job requisition and may include home health call, business hours, and weekend/holiday call
Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required; CRT will not be considered
- South Dakota RCP License required prior to submittal (license required if applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NRP certification required if assigned to NICU patients
- Associate of Applied Science (AA) degree required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Critical care and general respiratory care experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- First-time travelers considered upon manager review with strong experience
Additional Information
- Support available on the unit includes 24/7 Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist coverage, as well as Supervisors, Manager, and Director oversight
- Facility-specific orientation provided at Rapid City Hospital's Respiratory Care Department
- Required to work holidays that fall within contract dates
- Time off requests approved for up to 7 days; contract extension required if taking a full week off
- Pewter scrub color required

- Facility is known for being traveler-friendly and welcomes contract renewals
