Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift NICU travel assignment at a teaching hospital in Missouri.

Details

  • NICU unit at an academic teaching hospital
  • Pediatric float position — may float anywhere in the organization, including as a Patient Observer (Sitter)
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Weekend work required
  • At least 50% of holidays during the contract are required
  • Cerner EMR — preferred but not required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RRT license required — CRT not accepted; MO or Compact license required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required, with at least 1 year in the NICU specialty
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS
  • PALS required
  • Experience in adult critical care, NICU, and pediatric critical care settings
  • Proficiency with neonatal/pediatric equipment including Bubble CPAP, high frequency jet ventilator, oscillating ventilator, CPAP/BiPAP, and pressure/volume ventilators
  • Skilled in neonatal and pediatric direct intubation, ECMO, and neonatal inter-departmental transports
  • Experience with ventilator management including weaning, BiPAP, CPAP, IMV, high frequency jet and oscillating ventilators
  • Ability to perform airway management, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and arterial blood gas drawing and interpretation
  • Experience caring for patients with ARDS, cystic fibrosis, fresh tracheostomy, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, RSV, and respiratory distress syndrome
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • 2 professional references required for consideration
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Active license required for consideration — no pending licenses accepted

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay; candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
  • Floating is mandatory — NICU/Pediatrics travelers may float anywhere in the organization, including as a Patient Observer (Sitter)
  • Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (9 months of consecutive service), after which a mandatory 6-month break is required before returning
  • Re-orientation is not required for travelers returning within 18 months
  • Maximum of 10 days of requested time off (RTO) for the contract
  • Orientation includes non-billable online modules averaging 4–6 hours, completed via Cornerstone
  • Role requires frequent ambulation, reaching, and lifting/moving objects weighing 20 lbs or more
  • Regular exposure to patients with contagious illnesses is expected in this healthcare setting
