Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with PICU experience for a 13-week travel assignment in a pediatric critical care unit at a teaching hospital.

Details

  • Work in the PICU/RRT unit of a pediatric teaching hospital
  • Pediatric critical care patient population, including NICU coverage
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • 36 hours per week on a 3x12 hour schedule
  • Day shift (7:00-19:00) or Night shift (19:00-7:00) available
  • 50/50 rotation between day and night shifts based on department needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • 4x12 hour shifts not offered

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRT not accepted
  • Pending Massachusetts license accepted
  • BLS certification required
  • PALS certification preferred
  • 2-3 years of respiratory therapy experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of PICU or Pediatric CVICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • License required if applicable
  • Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
  • Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and high frequency oscillator preferred
  • Proficient in neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures including bubble CPAP, oscillating ventilator, and pressure/volume ventilator
  • Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care/management
  • Experience with ETT and NT suctioning
  • Able to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Experience with nitric oxide (iNO) medication administration
  • Two verified professional references required from two different facilities among the last three places worked

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to critically ill pediatric patients in a teaching hospital setting
  • Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate differential
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
