Responsibilities include the management of neonatal airway and ventilation. This covers mask ventilation, airway stabilization, and ventilator management. Familiarity with transport ventilators is essential. Transport operations include understanding physiology, isolette systems, and equipment troubleshooting. Knowledge of oxygen management and EMS integration is required. Experience with critical neonatal care conditions such as RDS, MAS, PPHN, BPD, sepsis, and thermoregulation is necessary. Ability to provide hemodynamic support and early recognition of patient deterioration is critical. Clear communication within the team and efficient handoffs between facilities are expected. Crisis management skills regarding equipment failure and respiratory decline are important. Infection control practices must be adhered to at all times. An understanding of transport physiology, including the effects of motion, vibration, altitude, and temperature, is needed. Safe operation and troubleshooting of transport isolette systems is required. Candidates should manage equipment restraints, power sources, and gas supply monitoring during transport. Proficiency in documenting transport events, interventions, and patient assessments is necessary. Key procedures performed include bag-mask ventilation, advanced airway management, and assisting with placement and stabilization of transport lines.
