Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - $1,611 to $1,811 per week in Wyandotte, MI

We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Wyandotte, MI where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
• Current Michigan Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• One year of clinical experience as an RRT in an acute care hospital setting preferred; experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator management required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required prior to hire.
• Experience performing arterial blood gas sampling, oximetry, capnography, 12-lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), and ventilator set-up and self-test.
• Ability to assist with bronchoscopy, chest tube management, and other respiratory procedures per hospital policy.
• Ability to operate and maintain a range of respiratory equipment including invasive and non-invasive ventilators, oxygen delivery devices, nebulizers, and pulmonary function testing equipment.
• Effective communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and accurate documentation of respiratory care records.
• Must be available to work mostly day shifts and be willing to work alternate shifts as needed (preferred).

Standard Job Description

Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans. Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and provides necessary education upon discharge.

Conducts physician-prescribed treatments, operates various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, ventilation and oxygenation. Performs chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods. Performs oximetry and capnography monitoring, routine review of chest x-rays as indicated, 12-lead EKG, pulmonary function studies, and assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy care, and chest tube management as policy allows.

Performs arterial puncture and reports test results. Follows laboratory-related policies where applicable. Performs CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines. Inserts and removes endotracheal tubes using free hand and video laryngoscopy techniques. Sets up, self-tests, operates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilators. Facilitates equipment maintenance and documents treatments and patient responses accurately. Communicates with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficacy and provides thorough hand-off communication during rounds. Maintains accurate respiratory therapy charges and performs other duties as assigned.
