Job Title: Respiratory Care Therapist Profession: Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Adult Critical Care License: Must have RRT license in hand Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Must obtain NRP prior to the start date. High risk experience preferred; if no experience, must be open to high risk training on site. Floating required within the Metro Region between facilities, including mid-shift floating as needed. Description: Therapist will assist in pediatrics and with emergency patients, so must be comfortable with all ages. Does not need specific pediatric hospital experience but must be comfortable with basic pediatric respiratory therapy care. Responsible for performing both general and critical care tasks. Duties include medication delivery, bronchopulmonary hygiene, hyperinflation therapy, initiation, management, and weaning of both invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Involves airway management, suction, cuff, and ETCO2 monitoring, as well as intubation assistance, extubation, and maintenance of indwelling lines. Respond to rapid responses and emergency codes, and perform CPR. Responsibilities include blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, and monitoring spontaneous breathing parameters. Preferred experience includes changing tubing and bags for invasive lines/arterial lines. Required to be comfortable caring for patients with diagnoses such as asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and other non-pulmonary diagnoses. Experience with various airway management devices and suctioning is required. Must be proficient in medication administration and delivery systems, including aerosol setups, nebulizers, and oxygen therapy. Managed care of ventilators such as BiPAP and CPAP, including weaning from mechanical ventilation. Assist in high-risk deliveries as needed. Professional knowledge includes ABG interpretation. Experience with specific ventilators is preferred. Candidates should expect to float between facilities as needed. Familiarity with electronic charting systems is preferred.
