Comprised of an acute care facility, the team offers services in emergency medicine, orthopedics, and various medical and surgical specialties. The position involves performing basic and critical respiratory care services. The practitioner must work well without supervision while being able to maintain oversight over others as delegated. Respiratory care services will be provided for adult and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include providing respiratory care for patients with respiratory diseases as ordered by the physician. The role also requires the completion of paperwork, electronic medical records, flow sheets, and patient charges. Essential functions include assessing and documenting the appropriateness of prescribed therapy. The practitioner will administer aerosol and oxygen therapy, maintaining accurate patient charts. Drawing arterial blood gases according to policy and physician orders is part of the duties. Care will be provided for ventilator patients. The practitioner will assist in department record keeping and operations and participate in training new employees. Documentation of care given and maintaining treatment records are crucial tasks. The role involves providing patient and family education regarding cardiopulmonary diseases. The practitioner will check all respiratory therapy equipment in use or on standby in patient areas. Compliance with bundle orders for mechanical ventilation is required. The practitioner will identify measurable outcomes while utilizing appropriate therapy interventions. Maintenance and processing of equipment used in respiratory therapy services are part of the responsibilities.
