Job Title: Respiratory Therapist (Nights) Profession: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred 3 years License: Current and valid Respiratory Care license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Current and valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification Must-Have: - Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for patient education - Critical thinking and problem-solving for fast decision-making - High adaptability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. The role includes providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system. Assisting with intubation as well as ventilator setup and management is required. Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate patient needs is essential. This includes patient-specific disease education and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Developing a rapport and mutual respect with patients and caregivers fosters an optimal environment for goal achievement. Documentation of education provided to patients and caregivers based on identified needs is necessary. Other duties and projects may be assigned as required. Adherence to organizational competencies and standards of behavior is expected. The position requires the ability to lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 5 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 1 hour a day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors will occur.
