Description:
Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Supervisor and Medical Director.
Responsible for performance and competency of care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
Effectively evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans.
Function as a role model in respiratory care demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, selected technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base.
Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation.
Check equipment in use and on units for proper operations and routine service.
Report malfunctioning equipment to management.
Process and maintain respiratory equipment.
Accurately chart on the respiratory flow sheets in the electronic medical record (EMR) and on care plans.
Charge accurately in the EMR.
Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients receiving respiratory care services.
Recommend timely interventions and the need for further treatment or referral in the participant's respiratory care regimen.
Record procedures, patient response, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements.
Consult with a Respiratory Care Practitioner regarding any adverse effects and compliance with equipment.
Relay information in writing to the physician.
Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units.
Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy in the emergency room.
Obtain and analyze blood gases—arterial, venous, and capillary.
Assist in cleaning respiratory care-related equipment.
Assist with stocking respiratory care-related supplies on inpatient care units.
