Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Licensed Respiratory Therapist Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CRT, RRT Must-Have: NICU experience Description: Department: Respiratory Therapy. Adult, pediatric, and NICU experience is required. The unit performs a varying number of treatments per day based on the season, with no more than 30 per shift. Workload may be heavier at times, depending on unit demands. Certifications must include BLS, ACLS, PALS, CRT or RRT. STABLE and NRP are only required for staff handling NICU patients. Types of patients include adults from NICU to geriatrics. The unit covers ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, small pediatric units, with no PICU. The facility has a level III NICU. Ventilator management may be needed occasionally. The unit serves inpatient and emergency patients. Job duties include drawing and analyzing ABGs, administering breathing treatments, and managing BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilators. Assistance with intubation may be required along with placement of an LMA. There is a respiratory manager or team lead present on each shift. Travelers may be assigned as charge therapists based on experience and willingness. Travelers will never be the only respiratory therapist on duty. Equipment used includes Drager vents, Cervo for NICU, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, and Philips v60 and v30. Shifts are self-scheduled with the option for block scheduling. Mandatory attendance at department meetings is required once a month. Every other weekend is required. Holiday work is required if necessary. Call or standby call requirements are minimal. Floating between units may be necessary. Scrub color is flexible; any color scrubs are acceptable. Unit-specific orientation is tailored based on experience. A radius rule of 50 miles applies for candidates. Trauma Level: 3. Care Setting: Acute. Division: Allied Health.
