Description:
Department: Respiratory Therapy
Types of patients include adults, with occasional pediatric cases.
Coverage areas include inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room.
Job duties include administering breathing treatments, drawing arterial blood gases (ABGs), performing EKGs, and working with ventilators and BiPAPs.
Respiratory Therapists are required to assist with intubation but will not be independently intubating patients.
The department is managed by a respiratory director and staff supervisor.
Shifts are scheduled in four-week periods, with weekend requirements of every other weekend.
Holidays may also require work.
There is no on-call or standby call requirement.
No specific scrub color or dress code is mandated.
Respiratory equipment used includes Hamilton T-1, Resmed Astral, and F&P Airvo.
An ER physician is always available for support.
Department-specific orientation will be provided.
