Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner License Certifications: BLS, RRT Must-Have: RRT credentials Description: This position involves working three 12-hour shifts per week. The department has every third-weekend rotation. Candidates need to be willing to work some holidays. Candidates will be expected to work in ICUs and on floors. This facility is a teaching hospital, and occasionally, candidates may be asked to precept respiratory therapy students. Strongly preferred qualifications include active AARC membership and a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field of study, or actively working towards a bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have experience caring for and treating patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases. Comfort in managing mechanically ventilated patients is essential. The facility has a large campus, so the ability to walk relatively long distances is important. Special Requirements: Epic experience is required. Experience with airway management devices and suctioning is necessary, including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy suctioning. Medication Administration skills required include administering Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex. Experience with medication delivery systems such as aerosol setups and nebulizers is essential. Oxygen therapy skills, specifically High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), are required. Ventilator management skills must include BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation. Arterial blood gas interpretation is also required. Candidates will be expected to float within the service line to meet facility needs. No local candidates will be accepted within a 75-mile radius. First-time candidates are accepted. RTO restrictions allow no more than 7 days. Pending licenses may be accepted. It is essential to comply with all health and safety regulations as outlined in the job requirements.
