Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: - Duration: 11 weeks Shift: Day (Must be willing to work night if needed) Hours per Shift: 8 or 12 Experience: 2-3 years including long-term ventilator patients License: Current and valid Respiratory Care license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification Must-Have: Ventilator experience, RRT Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment. This role is under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services and related supervisory staff. The therapist will provide respiratory therapy under medical direction. Responsibilities include education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies. The therapist will perform intubation assistance, as well as ventilator set-up and management. Gathering necessary information to properly evaluate the patient's needs is essential. This includes patient-specific disease education and testing in consultation with other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Developing rapport and mutual respect with patients and caregivers is crucial in fostering an optimum care environment. The therapist will provide and document education to patients and caregivers based on identified needs in an understandable manner. Other duties and/or projects may be assigned as necessary. The therapist is expected to adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Physical requirements include lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 1 hour per day. Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors is expected. The position includes weekend and holiday coverage as needed. No on-call duties are required. A strong sense of accountability for improving patient lives and exceptional teamwork is required to ensure the highest quality of care.
