Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience required. License: WA License required to apply. Certifications: ACLS BLS NRP PALS Must-Have: NICU experience. Open to floating to other campuses. Description: All previous employees of any affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. First-time travelers accepted. Patient volume/load includes 5 ventilators and 6-8 RVUs. Work setting experience in adult critical care, ED, PICU, and pediatrics is required. Experience with pulmonary function test lab is preferred. Job responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, and ventilator management. Must be skilled in tasks such as extubation, intubation assist, nasal airway placement, oral airway placement, and sputum specimen collection. Required skills include troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation. Ability to interpret arterial blood gas results is essential. Professional knowledge of various medication delivery systems is needed. Experience with a range of medications required. Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with ventilator management, including but not limited to BiPAP, CPAP, and high-frequency oscillators. The interdisciplinary support team includes respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services, among others. Special procedures in the unit may require independent intubation of neonates.
