Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a day/evening shift assignment at a tertiary, teaching, Level 1 trauma hospital requiring 3+ years of experience and RRT credential.
Details
- Respiratory Therapy department covering the entire facility with a team of 14-16 RRTs
- Patient population includes acute care, critical care, NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, ED, and adult acute/critical care
- Acute patient ratio of 1:25 and critical care ratio of 1:8
- Uses ventilators including Drager V500 and VN500, Hamilton T1 and C1, Respironics V30 and V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, and Vapotherm
- EMR system used is Epic
- Shift options include 7:00 AM-7:30 PM and 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
- Weekly guaranteed hours of 36
- Every other weekend work required
- Floating required as an RRT, including to NICU/PICU and other units within a 25-mile radius between facilities
- On-call rotation of approximately one shift per month, requiring 2-hour response time for oncoming shift
Requirements
- RRT certification required
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- NRP required for NICU coverage
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience required
- Tertiary and teaching hospital experience required
- Level 1 trauma center experience required
- NICU/PICU cardiothoracic experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- License required if applicable
- Driver's license required for consideration
- 2 professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory therapy services across a variety of acute and critical care units, including surgical ICU and IMC units
- Work as part of a flexible, team-oriented staff known for strong communication skills
- Scrubs provided or flexible dress code
- Air pods, laptops, and cell phone usage prohibited on the unit
- RTO should be kept to a minimum, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract, subject to manager discretion
- Local candidates within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local and not eligible for renewals or extensions
- Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during consideration
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
