Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory Care Specialty: UP Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Illinois RCP license Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist Must-Have: Solid understanding of all aspects of Respiratory care Description: Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Supervisor and Medical Director. Responsible for performance and competency of care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment. Effectively evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans. Function as a role model in Respiratory Care, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, selected technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base. Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation. Check equipment in use and on units for proper operation and routine service. Report malfunctioning equipment to management. Process and maintain respiratory equipment. Accurately chart on respiratory flow sheets in the electronic medical record and on care plans. Charge accurately in the electronic medical record. Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients requiring respiratory care services. Recommend timely interventions and further treatment or referral in patients' respiratory care regimens. Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements. Consult with Respiratory Care Practitioners regarding any adverse effects and compliance with equipment. Relay the same information in writing to physicians. Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy both on inpatient units and in the emergency room. Obtain and analyze blood gases—arterial, venous, and capillary. Assist in cleaning respiratory care-related equipment. Assist with stocking respiratory care-related supplies on inpatient care units.
