Job Title: Respiratory Therapist - NICU Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of experience as an RRT in Adult Critical Care; NICU experience preferred. License: Must hold MD State licensure. Certifications: BLS, CRT; ACLS preferred. Must-Have: - 2 years of experience in Adult Critical Care - 1 prior travel assignment completed - ED experience preferred - Capable of floating between Adult and NICU units Description: The candidate will be responsible for airway management devices and suctioning. Duties include endotracheal tube placement, extubation, and nasal airway suctioning. The role involves performing pulmonary hygiene and sputum specimen collection. Tracheostomy care and ABG interpretation are required skills. The therapist will utilize various medications and apparatus for aerosol therapy. Comfort with high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP is essential. Troubleshooting mechanical ventilation alarms and weaning patients is expected. The role includes assisting in high-risk deliveries and interpreting umbilical blood gases. Familiarity with specific ventilators is necessary. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is crucial for patient care.
