The role involves delivering both inpatient and outpatient respiratory care within an acute care hospital setting, using state-of-the-art equipment such as EPIC. Key Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient respiratory care
  • Perform electrocardiographs (EKG), overnight pulse oximetry, Holter monitors, and pulmonary function tests (PFT)
  • Assist with codes, traumas, and airway maintenance
  • Plan and monitor respiratory care modalities, identifying contra-indications
  • Deliver disease-specific patient and family education
  • Oversee sleep studies and support pulmonary clinics
  • Disinfect and sterilize respiratory equipment as per infection control guidelines

Requirements of the Respiratory Therapist
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved program of Respiratory Care accredited by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • NBRC-RRT or CRT certification
  • BLS - AHA certification
  • NE Respiratory Therapist license
