Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3rd Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of worked or educational clinical experience in both general and critical care. Preferred 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting providing respiratory care. License: Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care, BLS, ACLS, NRP (where applicable). Must-Have: ACLS, BLS, critical care experience. Description: A Respiratory Care Practitioner performs designated Respiratory Care and Pulmonary diagnostic procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. These procedures are part of the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. Respiratory Care services include therapeutic treatment and diagnostic testing performed with the use of medical gases and equipment, environmental control systems, humidification, and aerosols. Responsibilities include administration of medications to the cardiopulmonary system and providing ventilatory support. The role involves maintenance and management of life support systems, bronchopulmonary clearance, and conducting breathing exercises. Patient education, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and maintenance of natural and artificial airways are also key duties. These procedures are performed in both critical care and non-critical care areas and on patients of all ages. The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
