Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist / ECMO Specialist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30); Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 4 years preferred License: Valid license as a Respiratory Therapist; pending license acceptable Certifications: BLS, PALS, RRT, RRT-NPS Must-Have: Candidates must have credentials including BLS, PALS, RRT, or RRT-NPS. Candidates should have experience operating ECMO systems and providing respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients. Knowledge of respiratory techniques and ECMO equipment is essential. Description: This is a hybrid position that combines the responsibilities of a Registered Respiratory Therapist and ECMO Specialist. The position requires individuals to handle general neonatal and pediatric respiratory critical care. Candidates will be expected to skillfully operate ECMO systems on critically ill patients. If no assignment is available for ECMO, individuals will backfill as Respiratory Therapists. Essential skills include the ability to put together circuits, prime equipment, and respond to emergencies quickly. Candidates must be competent in managing centrifugal ECMO systems. Responsibilities include administering blood products and medications, drawing labs from the circuit, and supporting patient transport. Candidates must be familiar with the management of clots during ECMO procedures. The position requires routine management and operation of respiratory equipment. Expected patient ratios are 6 patients per therapist. The facility serves diverse patient age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents. Responsibilities include providing care for a range of diagnoses such as congenital heart defects, respiratory distress syndrome, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Candidates must be adept at using various types of ventilators and supporting respiratory needs during neonatal transports. The team will provide interdisciplinary support from multiple healthcare professionals. Candidates will be expected to have travel experience and provide care in various settings as needed. This role is integral to enhancing patient care and ensuring safety in the critical care environment.
