Experience: Two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred
License: Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire. The Registered Respiratory Therapist credential must be received within twelve months of hire.
Must-Have: Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program
Description:
Under general supervision, will provide services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels.
Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff.
Records treatment information and patient’s treatment response in their computerized medical record.
Acts as a resource to medical staff.
Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients.
Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records.
Performs as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of procedures and techniques of respiratory therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment is essential.
Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system and to the age of the patient are important.
Ability to interpret the appropriate information to identify patient needs is required.
Ability to work under stress is necessary.
Good interpersonal skills are important.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff is essential.
Some computer skills are required.
