Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT Specialty: Peds Duration: 26-week contract Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 48 guaranteed hours/week Experience: Two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred License: Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care Must-Have: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire Description: Under general supervision, this role provides services for the Respiratory Therapy Department in a timely and efficient manner. Responsible for administering therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff. Records treatment information and the patient's treatment response in their computerized medical record. Acts as a resource person to medical staff. Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients. Provides age-appropriate care to patients. Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained. Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records. Performs as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests. Other assigned duties may be performed as necessary. Knowledge of procedures and techniques of respiratory therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment is required. Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care as it relates to the pulmonary and cardiac system and the age of the patient are essential. Ability to interpret appropriate information to identify patient needs is necessary. The ability to work under stress is required. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers are necessary. Some computer skills are required. Graduation from an approved respiratory care program is essential. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire is required. The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential must be achieved within 12 months of hire.
