Respiratory Therapist

Job Details:

• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry• Provide quality patient care and intensive respiratory care with minimal supervision
• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive)
• Operate oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices for medication administration
• Perform chest physiotherapy to promote secretion clearance
• Execute suctioning procedures using various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal)
• Monitor patients using oximetry and capnography according to facility policy
• Review chest x-rays to determine need for further evaluation
• Perform 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Conduct pulmonary function studies including NIF and VC
• Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, and chest tube placement
• Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Execute arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free hand technique and video laryngoscope
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
• Document all treatments and patient responses in respiratory care records
• Communicate with physicians regarding therapy effectiveness
• Participate in shift-to-shift hand-off communications during walking rounds
