Opportunity:
Respiratory Therapist
Job Details:
• Participate in shift-to-shift walking rounds and hand-off communication• Provide quality patient care with intensive respiratory care and patient transport within the facility
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans with minimal supervision
• Explain treatment purposes, procedures, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive)
• Operate oxygen and aerosol devices, nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, and oxygenation
• Perform chest physiotherapy using equipment to promote secretion clearance
• Conduct suctioning using various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal)
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to facility policies
• Review patient chest x-rays for further evaluation needs
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
• Complete pulmonary function studies (NIF, VC, etc.)
• Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, perc trachs, and chest tube placement
• Provide tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency
• Follow laboratory testing policies for moderate complexity labs
• Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
• Maintain accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses
• Communicate with physicians regarding therapy efficiency
