Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) for a pediatric respiratory care position requiring RRT credentialing and prior children's hospital experience preferred.

Details

  • Work in the Respiratory Care department at a children's hospital setting
  • Provide age-appropriate respiratory care to pediatric patients across all age levels served by the department
  • Day shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly
  • 26-week contract with guaranteed 48 hours per week
  • Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients
  • Uses computerized medical record system for documentation

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program required
  • Licensed by the Oklahoma Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (license required if applicable)
  • Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • BLS certification from AHA required upon hire
  • ACLS certification from AHA required within 3 months of hire
  • RRT credential must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year of respiratory care experience required
  • 2+ years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred
  • Previous work in a children's-only hospital preferred
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills related to pulmonary and cardiac systems across patient age groups

Additional Information

  • Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff
  • Act as a resource person to medical staff on respiratory care matters
  • Ensure respiratory equipment is properly cleaned and maintained
  • Maintain necessary respiratory therapy records
  • Serve as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (no local candidates)
  • Facility maintains strict compliance deadlines; onboarding including drug screens and background checks must begin immediately upon booking
  • Travelers must be booked at least 4 weeks from time of offer due to strict compliance requirements
  • Returning employees may extend a contract only once for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
