Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - RRT with 2+ years of staff therapist experience for a Level I/II Trauma teaching hospital night shift position

Details

• Work in the Respiratory/Neuro Diagnostics unit at a Level I/II Trauma teaching hospital
• Adult and pediatric patient population in critical care and emergency department settings
• 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week
• Night/evening shifts, 8/12-hour shifts rotating between 1900-0730, 2300-0730, and 1500-2330
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 2 required holiday shifts during winter months
• On-call requirement of 1 shift per 6-week scheduling period
• Floating required as needed
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Graduate of a COARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• NBRC RRT certification required
• WI RCP license required (pending license accepted at time of submittal); license required if applicable
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a staff respiratory therapist
• Pediatric and adult experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with strict passing criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm identification
• Prior travel experience may be required depending on experience level

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care for adult and pediatric patients including ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, COVID, cystic fibrosis, and fresh tracheostomy cases
• Perform ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and IMV, and troubleshoot high pressure alarms
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer including Albuterol, Atrovent, Pulmicort, and Nitric Oxide
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and interpretation
• Manage airway devices including intubation assist, extubation, and suctioning
• Provide tracheostomy care and pulmonary hygiene services
• Perform chest physiotherapy including vest therapy
• Care for infants and children with RSV
• Facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
