Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/Pediatrics night shift position at a children's hospital, requiring 2+ years of pediatric Respiratory Therapy experience and RRT/CRT certification.

Details

  • Children's hospital setting providing respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients throughout the facility
  • Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU
  • Teaching hospital with 247 licensed beds
  • Certified Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center
  • Patient population spans neonate through pediatric age ranges
  • Coverage includes ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, and General Medicine floors
  • Uses IPPV/NIPPV ventilators
  • EMR: EPIC (candidates may test out of EPIC training for faster onboarding)
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700 or similar 0645-1915/1845-0715 rotation)
  • 36 standard hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating to other facilities due to specialty unit needs

Requirements

  • RRT or CRT certification
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
  • NC licensure required if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience on a Resource Team
  • Must have combined pediatric unit experience within the past 5 years, with peds-only assignments (not mixed age populations)
  • IPPV/NIPPV ventilator experience required
  • ED or ICU level experience should be specified if applicable
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care services to neonatal and pediatric patients across multiple units within the facility
  • Supported by Respiratory Leadership team
  • Onboarding includes 3 days total, with 2 days for computer/equipment orientation and facility walkthrough for ED and general floor assignments
  • Additional one day of unit-specific orientation provided for each intensive care unit if traveler has multi-unit ICU experience
  • Holiday coverage requires working 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
  • Scrub color: Royal blue

  • Radius rule requires permanent address to be 50 miles outside of the home unit; local candidates not accepted
  • Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
  • Clinical interview with manager required as final step in hiring process
