Job Responsibilities:
- The Respiratory Therapist will provide respiratory care to adult and pediatric patients in a high-acuity hospital setting. The therapist will float between the PICU, Emergency Department, Adult Critical Care, and other units as needed based on clinical skills and hospital staffing needs.
- Assess and manage patients requiring respiratory care.
- Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy.
- Perform ventilator checks and troubleshoot high-pressure alarms.
- Assist with intubation and extubation procedures.
- Provide airway management, including oral and nasal airway placement and suctioning.
- Provide tracheostomy care and management.
- Administer nebulizer treatments and oxygen therapy.
- Collect and perform blood gas procedures.
- Respond to emergency codes and provide respiratory support.
- Assist with in-house patient transport.
- Administer respiratory-related medications as ordered.
- Perform chest physiotherapy.
- Support patients in the PICU, Emergency Department, and Adult Critical Care settings.
- Document patient care and respiratory treatments accurately in EPIC.
- Float between assigned units as required and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and professional standards while providing high-quality patient care.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Respiratory Therapist experience • Active New Jersey or Compact license • RRT/NBRC certification • BLS • EPIC experience • PICU/NICU experience highly preferred • First-time travelers are accepted
