    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intensive respiratory care including mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen therapy, aerosol and nebulizer treatments, and patient transport as medically prescribed.
    • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry, capnography monitoring, and pulmonary function studies.
    • Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal.
    • Perform arterial punctures, 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
    • Set up, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilatory equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed.
    • Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in the patient chart and respiratory care records; communicate findings to attending and pulmonary physicians.
    Required Qualifications
    • Current, active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license.
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
    • Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities.
    • Ability to perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision and within the full scope of a professional respiratory therapy license.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience in an intensive care or acute care setting with complex respiratory patients.
    • Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation.
    • Experience with PleurX catheter drainage and advanced airway management techniques.
