Contract | 8-Week Assignment | Day Shift (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM)
Key Responsibilities
Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport, evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans within the scope of professional licensure.
Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial punctures.
Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, tracheostomy care, and insertion/removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes using freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope systems.
Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed.
Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoff communication.
Required Qualifications
Active Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
Current BLS and ACLS certification.
Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol devices.
Ability to perform arterial puncture, pulmonary function studies, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per established guidelines.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple patient care responsibilities during a 12-hour shift.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience assisting with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement procedures.
Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation.
Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices.
