Key Responsibilities- Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as prescribed by a physician.
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal), oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture.
- Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care including tube insertion and removal.
- Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed.
- Document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges accurately; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds.
Required Qualifications- Active Respiratory Therapist license within the applicable scope of practice.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment and respiratory care modalities.
- Ability to perform arterial puncture and interpret results to assess ventilation efficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on the night shift.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation.
- Familiarity with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation.
- Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices.
