Key Responsibilities
  • Administer competent respiratory care including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and related respiratory procedures and treatments.
  • Provide all aspects of airway management including aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations, and pulmonary function testing as needed.
  • Manage all aspects of ventilator care including setup, verification, use of specialized ventilator modes, patient monitoring, and appropriate weaning techniques.
  • Transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals and perform advanced practice procedures per established air care protocols, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support of patients when working with ECMO.
  • Maintain and improve job knowledge and skills; function independently with minimal supervision and serve as a resource to other staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • At least one of the following certifications depending upon practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in a Bronchoscopy Lab.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures, and to accurately document clinical information.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, family members, and other staff.
