Respiratory Therapist – Night Shift

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift

• Provide intensive respiratory care including operation of invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices as physician-prescribed
• Perform arterial punctures, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, and patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
• Perform and interpret 12-Lead EKGs, conduct routine review of chest x-rays, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
• Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations, as well as endotracheal tube insertion and removal via free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope
• Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; assist with preventative maintenance and repair as needed
• Accurately document all treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges; communicate patient status during shift-to-shift handoff rounds

• Active Respiratory Therapist license within the state of Illinois
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Demonstrated ability to operate and manage various ventilatory and respiratory care equipment with minimal supervision
• Proficiency in arterial puncture, pulmonary function testing, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Ability to perform patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed

• Experience in a moderate complexity laboratory setting with knowledge of specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation protocols
• Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and advanced airway management techniques including video laryngoscopy
• Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and other advanced respiratory procedures
